Make A Wish Foundation of Kansas

We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions
to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Student Giving

Kids for Wish Kids® and Wishmakers on Campus® are special Make-A-Wish programs that involves students, ranging from elementary to college age. These students raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in their communities through a variety of projects. Whether it's a dance, coin drive or a car wash, the project is entirely student driven from start to finish with guidance and support along the way from parents, teachers, and of course, Make-A-Wish staff.

Student Wishmakers projects can be individual class projects (e.g., senior graduation or service learning requirement projects), or as a larger student activity with groups such as a cheer squad, DECA or other student organizations. Make-A-Wish staff can work with you to brainstorm fundraising ideas and provide you with the necessary support to make your event a super success!

Through participation in these programs, students learn about philanthropy, and develop solid leadership skills. When Student Wishmakers put their time, energy and hearts into projects, they make magic happen. Student participation in this program helps the Foundation to continue its mission of granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Kids for Wish Kids®
Join our Kids for Wish Kids program where kids and teens help fulfill the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions by creating their own projects and fundraisers.

What appeals to children, young adults, their parents, school teachers and administrators who participate in the program is that the ideas for getting involved come from kids themselves. They have complete ownership of initiatives like planning inventive fundraisers, creating gift bags, making posters and scheduling presentations to learn more about Make-A-Wish.  They learn valuable lessons about leadership, teamwork, and the rewards of charitable giving and community service.

The main objectives of the Kids for Wish Kids program are:

  • To increase awareness among children and young adults and their teachers about the Make-A-Wish mission.
  • To encourage children and young adults to become actively involved in fulfilling the wishes of children.
  • To foster the value of community service, using this program as a hands-on learning experience for children.
  • To create school spirit.

Wishmakers on Campus®
Wishmakers on Campus® program, is a fundraising program designed for college organizations, such as student governments, athletic teams and Greek organizations, interested in contributing some of their time and energy to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

The program includes fundraising ideas and objectives to simplify the planning process. Your group simply adds their own creative touch to existing ideas or creates a project of their own.

Through the program, your group can:

  • Increase awareness of the Make-A-Wish mission.
  • Foster the value of community service.
  • Create school spirit.
  • Empower students to be actively involved in helping to grant wishes.
  • Provide partnership opportunities between students, school and community.
  • Experience the joy of helping a Kansas child.
